Spray Tan Before Vacation: What to Know
The best vacation tan is the one you board the plane with. A pre-trip spray tan means day one starts glowing — no burning, no chasing color, no losing two pool days to a sunburn. It just needs the right timing and a little protection.
Timing it to your trip
- Book ahead of departure so the color fully develops and you've had your first rinse before travel.
- Shave or wax at least 24 hours before the appointment; exfoliate the day before.
- Pack loose, dark clothing for after the session — and loose layers for travel day.
Protecting your glow on the trip
- A spray tan has zero SPF — pack and reapply sunscreen.
- Rinse after chlorine and salt water; both speed up the fade.
- Moisturize morning and night — sun, air travel, and swimming all dry skin out.
- Pat dry after every shower and swim.
For longer trips
